The Haven Points Series races is a series of 10 races sailed over 4 weekends between 4 May and 29 September 2013.

1. RULES - Haven Points Series Sailing Instructions Section 1
2.ELIGIBILITY
2.1 The series is open to single-hulled sailing yachts owned by members of sailing clubs situated between Lowestoft and Burnham with:
a) Minimum waterline length of 5.2 metre and minimum stability indices of SSS 15 or STIX 23.
b) Valid International Racing Certificate.
2.2 Any yacht which has finished in or above third place overall within the preceding three calendar years must hold an Endorsed IRC Certificate before entering again. This requirement may be waived where the Committee is satisfied that there has been a bona fide change of ownership.
2.3 Yachts that rate higher than TCC 1.070 or do not fully comply with OSR Category 4 Monohulls will not be accepted for the Points Series without the Organising Committee’s special dispensation.
2.4 Notwithstanding anything stated or implied elsewhere, the Committee has the right to refuse any entry.
3. EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
Boats must meet the minimum standards laid out in the current ISAF Offshore Special Regulations Category 4 Monohulls which include a functional engine with adequate fuel, and a marine VHF transceiver.
See Appendix A to this Handbook for further information on applicable safety and equipment regulations.
4. ENTRY FEES & CLOSING DATES
4.1 The Points Series entry form (annexed hereto and on the Haven Series Website), together with a copy of the IRC certificate and entry fees, should be sent to the Haven Series Secretary to arrive on or before the 20th April. 2013.
4.2 The Entry Fee for the Points Series is £100.
4.3 Late entries for the Haven Points Series can be accepted at the discretion of the Committee but may not be included in any points calculation within 7 days of receipt.
5. SCHEDULE OF RACES
5.1 The Series will be sailed on the following dates, starting and finishing in or near Harwich Harbour.

The Haven Points Series is a series of 10 races with three or less discards as follows –

5.2 Classes The division between Class 1 and 2 will be:
Class 1 TCC 0.971 and above.
Class 2 TCC 0.970 and below.
The organising committee reserves the right to adjust class divisions before the Series if necessary.
5.3 Start times for the first race of the day will be: Class 2 – 10:15, Class 1 – 10:30 (all times BST)
5.4 A second race on the days where two races are scheduled the second race will be started as soon as practical in the area of the first finish. On single race days a second may take place in order to re-sail an abandoned race.
6. SCORING
6.1 The series will be scored according to the Low-Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A A4, as amended by Appendix A9 (Series longer than a Regatta). Ties will be broken in accordance with A7 and A8.
6.2 Results will be published on the Haven Series website: www.havenseries.org, and competitors will be notified by e-mail.
7. TROPHIES & PRIZES
The Armada Cup and replica Armada Plate for the overall Series winner (Class 1 and 2 combined).
The Armada Trophy and Glassware for the Class Winner not winning the Overall Series.

The Landamore Trophy for the best Haven Series boat under IRC at the Felixstowe Regatta.
The Theadom Trophy will be presented to the boat with the most improved performance.
The Rig Magic Trophy will be for the highest scoring Sports boat in the Points Series
Other prizes may be awarded according to the number of entries.
8. DISCLAIMER
Competitors compete in the Series entirely at their own risk. See RRS Rule 4, Decision to Race.
The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injuries or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the Series.
9. INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party insurance with a minimum cover of £2,000,000 per incident or the equivalent.
10. THE CUTLER TROPHY
The Cutler Trophy will be competed for on the results of four races:
14th September Race 6 & 7, 15th September Race 8, 28th September Race 9.
If any of these races are not sailed, the results of Race 10 will count.
Rules – Are as stated at Section 1 above. The “Team Racing” rules of RRS Appendix D shall not apply.
Eligibility – The competition is only open to boats competing in the 2013 Haven Points Series.
Teams – Each club may enter one team comprising three boats plus one reserve.
The Haven Series Secretary must have the boat names of the selected team and reserve by 09:00 on Monday 9th September. Two or more clubs may jointly enter a combined team provided that none of them enters a separate team in its own name, and that all other eligibility criteria are met.
Race organisation – The races counting towards the Cutler Trophy results shall be sailed as prescribed for The Haven Points Series.
Cutler Trophy scoring – The ranking of the team’s relative position to each other, extracted from Overall IRC ranking in the four races will be used. All four races are to count even though they may have been discarded for the Haven Points Series.
Ties – RRS Appendix A8 shall not apply. If two or more teams’ scores are equal, the scores of individual boats in individual races shall be considered, and the tie broken in favour of the team having the most first places overall, or if the tie remains the most second places and so on for lower places if necessary. If a tie still remains, it shall be broken in favour of the team having the best-placed boat in the final race, or if both teams’ best boats were tied in that race, the best placed second boat and so on.

THE MERCATOR TROPHY RACE
FRIDAY 24TH MAY 2013
The Mercator Trophy Race is a North Sea Passage Race from Harwich to Ostend.
The Organising Authority is the Haven Series Committee.

2. ELIGIBILITY
The series is open to single-hulled sailing yachts owned by members of sailing clubs situated between Lowestoft and Burnham the meet the requirements of the OSR Category 3 with Liferaft.
3. EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
Boats must meet the minimum standards laid out in the current ISAF Offshore Special Regulations Category 3 Monohulls plus Liferaft, which include a functional engine with adequate fuel, and a marine VHF transceiver.
See Appendix A to this Handbook for further information on applicable safety and equipment regulations.
4. ENTRY FEES & CLOSING DATES
4.1 The Mercator Race entry form (annexed hereto and on the Haven Series Website), together with entry fees, should be sent to the Haven Series Secretary to arrive on or before the 17th May 2013.
4.2 The Entry Fee: £50 single race. £40 if entered in the Points Series.
4.3 Late entries can be accepted at the discretion of the Committee but the late entry may have to make their own berthing arrangements at the destination port.
5. SCHEDULE OF RACE
5.1 The Start: The race is scheduled to start at 07:30 BST at the Beacon Hill start line in Harwich Harbour.
5.2 Course and Sailing Instructions: See the Passage Race Supplementary Sailing Instructions
5.3 Handicapping: A single class under Haven Handicap with an IRC Sub-division.
The race will be handicapped on Haven Handicaps issued by the Haven Handicap Committee.
Entries holding a valid IRC will be dual scored on their TCC for additional prizes

6.1 The series will be scored according to the Low-Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A4
7. TROPHIES & PRIZES
7.1 Trophies and Prizes will be awarded as follows –
Mercator Race Haven Handicap: The Mercator Trophy and Royal North Sea Yacht Club Picture.
Mercator Race IRC Sub-division: The Thake Trophy
7.2 The Prize-giving is traditionally held on the Saturday afternoon at The Royal North Sea Yacht Club.

THE BRITANNIA TROPHY RACE
SATURDAY 6TH JULY 2013
The Britannia Trophy Race is a Coastal Passage Race from Harwich to Lowestoft.
All entries will compete for the Britannia Trophy using a Haven Handicap.
All entries with a valid IRC will also qualify for the Haven Series Ptarmigan Trophy
The Organising Authority is the Haven Series Committee and Royal Harwich Yacht Club.

The series is open to single-hulled sailing yachts owned by members of sailing clubs situated between Lowestoft and Burnham the meet the requirements of the OSR Category 4.

SATURDAY 27TH JULY 2013
The Crouch Passage Race a Coastal Passage Race from Harwich to Burnham.
All entries will compete for the Fresh Herring trophy using a Haven Handicap.
All yachts with a valid IRC Certificate will also qualify for the IRC Sub-division.
The Organising Authority is the Haven Series Committee.

The Stroombank Trophy Race is a North Sea Passage Race from Harwich to Ramsgate.
All entries will compete for the Stroombank Trophy using Haven Handicaps.
Those yachts with a valid IRC Certificate will also compete for the Strutt &Parker Trophy.
The Organising Authority is the Haven Series Committee.

The Mercator, Britannia, Stroombank and the Crouch Race make up the Passage Race Series.
All the scores of the individual passage races are counted towards the Passage Race Series by default.

Scoring – All boats will ranked on their Haven Handicap. Boats with a valid IRC will also be ranked in an IRC sub-division. The series will be scored according to the Low-Point Scoring System of RRS Appendix A4.
Three races are to count with one discard.
Trophies will be awarded as follows:
Passage Series Haven Handicap - the Demijon Traveller Trophy.
Passage Series IRC sub-division - the Tsunami Trophy.
